A core priority is therefore aligned to 'valuing difference' in all aspects of our work:

NEC Reserve Seats
Our policy making body, the National Executive Committee, includes reserve place seats, representing the interests of under represented groups within our membership. These include:
- BAME
- Gender
- LGBT+
- Disability
Members in these reserve places bring issues facing members, and other staff and officers within the police family, to the association to inform and support our work towards ensuring that equality and diversity runs through all we do.

Coaching and Mentoring
In 2018, The Police Superintendents’ Association launched a Coaching and Mentoring Programme, in collaboration with the College of Policing.
The programme provides training in becoming a coach or mentor, enabling officers and staff across the policing family, access to informal, flexible support to help their professional development.
The scheme is specifically aimed at staff from under represented groups, and to date, 22% of beneficiaries are from a BAME background and 61% are female. Learn more here.
