Programme of Pre-retirement seminars for 2022 by Reflect Financial Limited @ PFM

Philip Pearson and Tim Jackson QPM (former PSA National Secretary) are pleased to announce their programme of pre -retirement seminars for 2022 for members of the PSA.  The seminars will take place on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, 18th October 2022 at the BCEC adjacent to the Holiday Inn, Hill Street, Birmingham, B5 4EW (convenient for Birmingham New Street Railway Station)

  • Tuesday, 15th November 2022 at the offices of Reflect Wealth Financial Limited, 2nd Floor, 12 Princes Parade, Princes Dock, Liverpool, L3 1BG (accessible by car and rail)

  • Thursday, 8th December 2022 at the Victory Services Club, 68-79 Seymour Street, London, W2 2HF (near to Marble Arch Underground Station)

The seminars will commence at 10.00hrs and conclude no later than 17.30hrs.  The following subject areas will be covered during each seminar:
  • Managing Your Finances 
  • Developing a Financial Strategy in Retirement
  • Estate planning and wills (including 'power of attorney')
  • Police Pensions and Taxation (including the pension reforms, the ‘Remedy’, Annual Allowance and Lifetime Allowance)
  • Preparing for Retirement and a Life Beyond Policing

Intended primarily for those members who are within two years of retirement, members with 25 years or more service are also most welcome to attend.  The wide range of subjects being covered during the seminars will ensure they are of interest and relevant to members in this service band.

Pensions estimators

Self service queries
Shabir Hussain is a former Commander in the MPS and is the pension advisor to CPOSA.  He can provide pension/AA/LTA calculations to members of the PSAEW through his website.  He does make a charge for his services.  A link to his website can be found here

Shabir has developed an on-line pension estimators for self-service queries.  They both have screen capture tutorials which explain how they work and test sites to practice navigation and inputting.

  1. www.2015care.one will estimate future 2015 rights and cater for future pay rises.  Therefore, it will include 1987 or 2006 final salary rights with commutation( lump sum) options. £1 per session.

The PSA has launched a new membership benefits platform which is open to every member, including their families and friends.
The benefits on offer can be found at  https://policesupers.perkjam.com and by purchasing any ‘perk’ via the links on the website, the PSA benefits each time with an amount of commission being paid to the PSA account. 
The commission earned will be paid directly into a new welfare fund which has previously been requested by members to assist members who may need some financial support at a difficult time.  The welfare fund will be independently chaired with a governance board to make decisions on cases submitted.  More details on the welfare fund will be published soon.
